DISCOVER A FIVE-STAR WONDER IN CROATIA
Once upon a time, Croatia would have been the holiday destination of choice for only the bravest of souls. The passage of time has been good to it though, and it has fast become the prime choice of travellers in the know.
The Dalmatian coast is the preferred spot for many, but one location that has been somewhat neglected along its coastline has been the island of Korcula. It has never lacked charm, but has keenly felt the absence of a stand-out hotel that visitors would clamour to reside in.
All that changed this year though, with the re-opening of the rather extravagant and luxurious accommodation of Lesic Dimitri Palace.
WHAT'S IT LIKE
Re-launching in June, the Lesic Dimitri has been four long, back-breaking years in the re-making and modelling. It's set impressively in an 18th-century bishop's palace and five medieval cottages and also boasts Marco Polo's old house as its neighbour. "Wow" and "ooh", indeed.
If the imposing exterior walls aren't enough to get your pulse racing, then just prepare yourself for what's going on inside. Let's kick off our virual tour with the panoramic views across the Adriatic, before meandering through the in-room Jacuzzis and finishing in the top-notch spa.
The helpful staff at the hotel also know that a bit of action-packed adventure may be just the thing to take your trip from unbelievable to frankly unforgettable. Hiking, wind-surfing and wine-tasting are all just a call to the concierge away, as is a sailboat that the hotel reserves for its guests. And George Clooney. Probably.
