MARCO POLO CALLENGE 2012

Those seeking a personal challenge in 2012 should get their running shoes, wetsuits and bikes at the ready in preperation for what is arguably the world’s most stunning triathlon course, as countdown to the Marco Polo Challenge 2012 begins.
Taking place on the 28th April in Korcula, considered Croatia’s island of culture, the Triathlon now in its second year, is named after the intrepid merchant traveller who spent his childhood years on the stunning adriatic island.
The unique sporting challenge is spearheaded by Lešić Dimitri Palace, working together with Triathlon Klub Split and the town of Korcula. In the palace’s ongoing initiative to support and promote the rich heritage and culture of the region, the triathlon invites participants both locally and worldwide to enjoy the beauty, culture and energy of Korcula.
Contestants will race through stunning transitions on routes including the medieval streetscapes of the historic old town, cool pine forests and dramatic coastal backdrops of the Dalmation Coast. The main event encompasses a sprint triathlon as well as a sprint-relay triathlon.
Additional parties and activities are also being organised in the surrounding days making it the perfect challenge to combine with some great fun and relaxation both for participants and supporters alike.
