Croatian Island of Korcula's First Five-Star Resort
The Croatian island of Korčula in the Adriatic Sea will house the only five-star hotel between Dubrovnik and Hvar on the country's southern coast when the Lesic Dimitri Palace opens in June. The hotel, which will have just six suites, is located in an 18th-century bishop's palace. The decor is themed around the destinations visited by explorer Marco Polo, the island's most famous son, and the Lesic Dimitri Palace will also have a plush Thai spa, an array of watersports facilities and its own yacht. The island has a great deal of medieval architecture to explore and enjoys a mild climate with an average temperature in July of 27ºC.
