KORKYRA BAROQUE FESTIVAL
From the 7th - 16th September 2012, the Old Town of Korčula will stage a world-class international festival - The Korkyra Baroque Festival.
The event will be inaugurated under the patronage of the President, Professor Ivo Josipović, and will bring together the most prestigious musicians from Croatia and abroad who are considered leading interpreters of Baroque music today. (See attached programme).
Twelve main concerts will be staged over ten days supported by a rich programme of fringe events within the theme of Baroque music.
The festival will showcase a selection of the world's leading ensembles and soloists who specialize in Baroque music, including the Academy of Ancient Music (London), Laurence Cummings (London), Le Parlament du musique (Pariz), Currende i Eric van Nevel (Belgija), La Venexiana (Venecija), Red Priest (London), Hrvatski barokni ansambl(Zagreb) along with others.
Steeped in venues from the Baroque and Renaissance periods, Korčula is the ideal stage for a festival boasting the highest of artistic credentials and attracting audiences from around the world.
